Philippine Election Tips

I got all this information from my Yahoo inbox, and I would like to share them with you.

Do you know which precinct to go on the election day, May 10, 2010?

Please click the link below to check if your name is in the voters list and/or to check your precinct number.  This really works.  I just checked mine and saw my name and my precinct no.

Notes from a Seminar on the Election Ballot by Kenneth Yu

On the May 10, 2010 Ballot
I attended my barangay's seminar on the 2010 elections today, arranged by
the captain, Ralph Diaz. I learned a few things from Mr. Diaz about the
election ballot that could be informative for all of us:

1. Mr. Diaz said that the ballot is very, very sensitive to marks, ink, H20,
stains, scratches, folds, sweat, etc. If, say, you have grime on your hands,
or your hands are wet, or your sweat drops onto the ballot, the PCOS
(Precinct Count Optical Scan) Unit will not read it. So, keep your hands
very clean before voting. That is why the indelible ink will be put on your
finger after you're done voting, and not before, and wh y you will be given
your ballot in a folder, a "Ballot Secrecy Folder", so that you can lessen
the actual handling of the ballot with your hands.

2. Shade the egg-shaped hole beside your chosen candidate fully (you will be
provided with a marker). Don't check, line, X, dot, or half-shade it,
because the PCOS Unit will not read it. Try not to go beyond the lines also
(well, not too much).

3. Mr. Diaz said that there will be a barcode going around the ballot. If
this is marked, even scratched, in any way, the ballot will be spoiled. He
said that if anyone else handles the ballot, watch them well, in case they
intentionally scratch the barcode with a fingernail to prevent your ballot
from being counted. He used as an example that if you're obviously for a
candidate that, say, an unscrupulous precinct official is against
(hopefully, there's no such thing as an unscrupulous precinct official ;-P),
that official may scratch your barcode to prevent your vote from being
counted.

4. You will have four tries to put your ballot through the PCOS Unit. You
can put it in forward, backward, front side up, back side up, whichever, but
only four tries. If after the 4th try it doesn't read properly, goodbye
ballot.

5. You will get one chance to have your ballot changed if you don't like it.
That's when they first hand it to you. Inspect it right away. If you see any
folds, scratches, or marks, you can ask for a change (which may lengthen
your voting process, Mr. Diaz added).

6. Bring a list of your chosen candidates on a piece of paper so that you
won't spend too much time filling out the ballot. If you make your decisions
on the day itself without a list, you could spend a long time filling it up.

7. Watch the readout on the PCOS Unit when you insert your ballot into it.
Mr. Diaz said that if successful, it'll read, "Congratulations! Your ballot
has been scanned." If not, it'll say why (improper shading, etc.) Get that
"Congratulations" message before leaving to make sure your vote is counted.

8. Bring an ID (Voter's ID is best, but if you don't have one, driver's
license, passport, etc. any valid ID with your address and preferably a
photo is all right) to present to the BEI (Board of Elections Inspector). If
you can find out beforehand through your barangay, also get your Voter's ID
number, precinct number, and your sequence number (the number beside your
name in the voter's list). This'll speed up your voting process.

9. The ballot you are given will only be readable by one specific PCOS Unit.
In other words, only one machine will be able to read your ballot, because
it's pre-registered there, so when you're ready, line up at the proper
machine. Don't line up at the wrong machine; your ballot won't be read, and
it may spoil your vote.

10. Polls open on May 10, 2010, at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m.

11. Mr. Diaz said that the Comelec told him that with the PCOS Units, we
will know the winner of the elections in 5 days. Otherwise, the PCOS Units
will allow for a manual count since all votes will be recorded inside the
machines (let's hope it doesn't come to that, because it's going to take the
usual weeks and weeks to finish the count).

12. The PCOS Units have internal batteries that can last 16 hours in case of
power outages. Since the voting period only lasts 10 hours, there's a 6 hour
buffer. But still, let's hope for no brownouts on May 10, 2010.

13. The PCOS Unit will print out the vote count in what looks like a very
long cash register receipt (whose print will last for 5 years, he said),
which will be put into a sealed box that'll be sent to the Comelec for
prop er counting. Also, the PCOS Unit will count the number of voters who are
voting based on the ballots inserted into it, so again, watch the screen on
the machine to make sure of voter count, as well as other important
messages.

14. Mr. Diaz said that you should vote only the exact number you should vote
for. So, vote for only 1 president, 1 vice president, 12 senators, 1 party
list, 1 mayor, 1 vice mayor, 1 member of the House of Representatives, etc.
(the limit will be there on your ballot as a "Vote for not more than ____").
If you vote for more than the stipulated number, that particular portion of
the ballot is spoiled. You may, however, vote for less (as in, if you can't
find 12 worthy senatoriables to vote for, it's all right to vote for less
than 12).

15. Mr. Diaz stressed repeatedly that in voting this time, one should not
make mistakes. It's asking a lot from us, but he said that over and over
again. His words: "Don't make mistakes, otherwise, you'll spoil your
ballot".

16. Of course you'll also be asked to do the usual signing of forms and
marking of thumbprints.

Feel free to share this note. I wish I could take questions, but I only took
notes as Mr. Diaz was speaking, so I doubt if I will know the answers. Any
questions you have can be sent to your Barangay Captains, or to the Comelec.
I hope this information helps

How to Enjoy a Blog Summit: The iBlog 6 Experience

What do you expect in an iBlog summit?  How do you enjoy and max your experience in this kind of social event?

I signed up for one because although I have several blogs, I am still clueless on how to make myself a millionaire through my blogs.

I learned about the iBlog 6 while I was following links at Facebook.  I was directed to Negros  Bloggers (http://www.negrosbloggers.com/iblog-the-6th-philippine-blogging-summit/), and on that site, I found the iBlog6 link.  I registered and sent the link to all my relatives and blog friends.  I was no. 99 on the list of Iblog registrants (http://iblogph.org/list-of-attendees/comment-page-1/). Now, that's a lucky number.  I should know, I will be your expert consultant on Numerology soon (http://adviceforinterculturallovers.blogspot.com/)

iBlog6 is an annual event for the Pinoy blogging community.  The 6th blogging event,  because for five years now, the "UP Law-ISP has been hosting successful Philippine Blogging Summits so that these events become highly-anticipated interaction venues, where famous Pinoy bloggers give informative talks and more than 300 bloggers attend" (http://iblogph.org/.

Jenn and Pats                                                                                                              Mother and Daughter
My cousin, Pats, and my daughter, Jenn,  also attended this event. We enjoyed bonding time plus we got to know other bloggers like Ana Urbina, Julie Custodio-Fuertes, Mr. Bejo, etc. and special mention - Courtney  Fazzo, who is an American with with exotic Italian and Greek lineage but  she's American as an apple pie -  having been born and raised in the U.S. I would have liked to post her picture here as she's so pretty but I have to ask her permission first...calling Courtney......

My former ADB office mate, Dine Racoma, an award winning blogger,  Sexy Mom's D-Spot, arrived a lil' bit late.  She's one of the respected bloggers of the Pinoy blogging community.  Besos, Dine.

I will not elaborate more on our topics, each speaker has his/her own blog site such Carlo Ople's (http://www.newmedia.com.ph/iblog-6-respect-blog-social-media-marketing) and
and Marghil Makuha's (http://www.macuha.com/2010/04/personal-experience/my-iblog6-talk/
etc.

All of the speakers were engaging, they are expert on their topics, everyone's funny and the speaker-audience interaction was awesome.

We had a good lunch and snacks, thanks to the sponsors. We even had free health pills, Renalin.  I am sure after their ad broadcast each break, Jenn would have memorized the monologues......Peace...

We ended the day with a great dinner at Chocolate Kiss at UP campus, proceeded to Scarlet's Ten02 at Ybardolaza street, QC,  where Rakrakan between the Filipino and Malaysian heavy Metal musicians  were about to  happen.  We decided to scrap Rakrakan as  we went there for Jazz.   We ended up enjoying green tea ice cream and continued our tete-a-tete.

Second day of blog summit:

The night before, I was not able to sleep well in my cousin's water bed (too many memories  in her house where I stayed  during my college days)  so I had several 3-minute-naps while our speakers continued their interesting talk.  When Batang Baler (http://batangbaler.net/), Joseph 'Kidlat' Gonzalez, started talking, everyone laughed,  like every two minutes. Oh no, there goes my every 3-minute-naps.  I succumbed to laughing, and hanged on to his easy narration.  He brought the house down.  He's a natural comedian, poker-faced too.

So how do you enjoy and benefit from a blog summit such as this?

1.  Arrive early, (unless you are Dine Racoma who knows how to make money already and has an award to prove this too), so you get all the perks in case the organizers run out of them.   In fairness, although the lunch and snack stubs were promised on a first come, first served basis, I think everyone enjoyed the delish morning and afternoon snacks, unlimited coffee and yummy Adobo and Afritada lunches.

2.  Distribute your business cards - to the sponsors, to your fellow participants and why not, to the distinguished speakers too.  Do networking to the max, you gain a lot by learning what the experienced and earning bloggers do.  You might gain lifetime friends too.

3.  Ask relevant questions.  There might be nagging questions in your mind and this is the proper venue to ask them.   Mike Abundo wowed us all with his 'summative' questions.  We learned from his questions as much as we enjoyed his  movie star looks.

4.  Do networking.  The iBlog experience does not stop after the two-day summit.  Go to the speakers' websites where you could learn more about their topics, their tricks, and where you may download free eBooks like Carlo Ople's free Social Media Guide for Filipino Entrepreneurs.  At most, you'll increase your Facebook friends :)

Can you think of more suggestions?

Special thanks to Peter for uploading the group pic at FB.  Add me as friend in FB, marilousilverman@ymail.com so you'd see some more pictures.

Okay, shall we see each other at iBlog7 next year?

Our Deep Condolences, Francine Prieto

Francine Prieto - movie star, comedienne,  sister and a grieving daughter.

I feel for her.  Her mom, Amelia Falcon +,  who was diagnosed a year ago with ovarian cancer passed away.  I saw her being interviewed on TV today.  She tearfully related how she and her mom debated on her mom undergoing a medical procedure.  Francine opposed it but her mom prevailed.  In effect the medical procedure caused her mom's death.  Francine also thanked all those who helped her financially, those who gave her jobs, etc.

I took Francine's pictures years ago for the cover of  Women's Journal, Francine5.jpg She was slimmer then.  You'd think that with her sexy image and beautiful face she would act like a diva.  She is so down--to-earth.  In all her manners and speech, she is a good daughter and a conservative person.  Other showbiz personalities would concoct stories, would link with the members of the opposite sex just to get publicity.  Not so with Francine.  She's squeaky clean, a rare asset in the showbiz world.

Our message to Francine -  Our deepest and sincere condolences, Francine.  You did the best for your mom, I am sure your mom appreciated all your efforts.

Top 10 Messages Left on Senator Noynoy Aquino’s Answering Machine After the Release of the Latest Pulse Asia Survey

Which election ad campaign do you like best?  Type nyo bang lumipad with Gibo Teodoro? . I think Villar's ad is so efective.  Akalain nyo bang naringgan ko pa ang isang Nanay na habang  nakasakay sa jeep ay tinuturan nyang kumanta ang 2- year -old son nya ng campaign ad song ni Villar. "Si Villar ang tunay na mahirap....., etc."   Hayy, God bless us all this coming elections.

This is from Professional's Heckler's column.  It's so hilarious, I would like to share them with you.

Your candidacy will deliver us back to the beginning of things, or thrust us back to the time where myth and history meet or the place where life and legend intersect. Use the Force, Noy.”

Where is your flavor of the month girl", "May I have a taste of your vodka cranberry cocktail", "Where are you going for your Thanksgiving dinner", at maraming pang iba.
As usual (like 500 thousand times) napagkamalan na naman nya akong isang Haponesa, " Nihon jin desuka," tanong nya.
Masarrap, grabe. 'Too sweet, take it away", sabi ni sweetheart na laging ga count ng calories.
Fast forward. ......And the floor and I became one.....
Ganun nga, answer a question with another question...... This is so uncool, sabi ko pa sa sarili ko.

Summer's Strawberry Rose
Ingredients
6 oz. Tequila Rose
1 1/2 oz.
Bacardi White Rum
3/4 cup(s)
Strawberry Mix
Instructions
Blend with ice until the consistency is smooth and creamy The colour should be a light pink resembling a strawberry milkshake. If not, add additional tequila Rose and/or Strawberry Mix. Serve in a chilled glass with a thick straw. Garnish with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Note: Strawberry Mix can be substituted with Fresh or Frozen strawberries and sugar syrup.

At yun nga, nagsipag akong mag blog.

How to Seduce Your Partner.

Kaya kung ano man ang inyong pangangailangan, subukan nyong magdasal, alalahanin nyo ang sabi sa Bible, Ask and it shall be given unto you, knock and the door shall be opened unto you.  Tama ba ang pagka banggit ko?

O sige, magdadasal na ako ulit. Susulat na naman kasi ako eh.

Application Rejected: Preferred Other Applicants

Translation: The news brought  a lump in my throat.
Sabi naman nya, "if they give you $5 per hour, try it."
Sabi ko sa asawa ko, "sweetheart, I am 54 years old, do you think people will pay that much to chat and see my tits"?
"Darling, you have great tits, they're big, people will pay to see them".

Plot Summary for

After losing at the tables, they are approached by a millionaire who offers them a million dollars for a night with the wife. Though the couple agrees that this is a way out of their financial dilemma, it threatens to destroy their relationship. (Written by Ed Sutton {esutton@mindspring.com})

Balik sa aking indecent proposal. Sumagot ako sa prospective employer  I am sorry I don't have a web cam, my voice should be enough. I don't think it is right for a 54-year-old woman to chat with web cam to an adult website.
Ang paniwala ko kasi the sexiest part of a human being's body is the brains. Naniniwala ba kayo dito?
